The story behind the artwork
Captured at 25 years old, Queen Elizabeth II radiates in a portrait by Pietro Annigoni, commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers - the original hangs in their livery hall at London Bridge. Kristjana bought this print of the painting while roving through Sunbury market, her artist’s mind already bedecking the Queen with contemporary, verdant ornamentation. Now brought to life with hand-sculpted 3D paper elements, the monarch basks anew under beaming sunbeams, while reverent butterflies encircle this most regal and unique of portraits.
