Mask making
Kristjana's mask making started with her exhibition in collaboration with Sennheiser at Shanghai design week in 2014. This interactive exhibition took the visitors on an audio tour through a bamboo forest. Each visitor was given a set of headphones and a portable player and as they move around the “forest” sounds were triggered by sensors. The sounds were soothing and natural, evoking a real-life forest. Suspended overhead were hand paper-cut sculptures draped in traditional Chinese silk printed with Williams’ designs with fantastical paper masks. This ethereal sound art installation was inspired by the landscape Williams passed over when she flew from her native Iceland to China.
Since Shanghai design week, Kristjana has hosted several mask making workshops, including a very successful one at Harrods during the Kristjana's Pop Up shop in Harrods in 2017.
